Dear Birth Parents

Hello there and thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We thank you for having the courage and love for your child to go through this process. We are grateful for your courage in assisting us to complete our family.
We would like to tell you a story about how our family of three came to be. The story begins with two strangers named Chuck and Kristin. The strangers were a young couple who met ballroom dancing during college. Their pairing as dance partners was quite odd. The Man was 6 feet and the woman around 5 feet 4 inches. The height difference while dancing could create problems, but an unknown force was in the works to make this happen. After a few months of dating and a few debates (by the man to the woman) on why this coupling was a good idea, the man proposed to the woman in a mountain meadow with a candle lit picnic. Before answering Chuck's question about getting married, Kristin decided to negotiate (you know to make sure there was a no minivan clause in the contract). Driving around large vehicles for Kristin is not something she was too excited about. She grew up with 4 other siblings and her mother drove the van around town. As much as she loves her mother, her mother did have a problem hitting small automobiles while backing up the van (she no longer drives a big van). Kristin felt that it would be a good idea to try and get that "no minivan clause" into the contract before the initial proceedings....anyway all was well in the world and the strangers were married in the Salt Lake Temple for Time and All Eternity.
Perhaps it would be important to let you know about this Chuck. You know the one that Kristin married 11 years ago. Chuck is a true rock star at heart. (He would really like you to believe it is in fact him as the drummer at every Bon Jovi concert, but the truth is you could have found him playing his drums during basketball games in high school and college, but not for Bon Jovi). He now enjoys his drums as often as he can and if Carter will let him. Candy (Mike n' Ikes to be exact) are a great asset to Chuck, however he has cut way back on these because he is currently training to run a Marathon. Chuck is a people person. He enjoys all kinds of people. He decided he should study the inner mind of people and landed with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and then decided he would enjoy solving legal questions for people and completed his Juris Doctorate from The University of Tulsa. Chuck, being all boy enjoys the greater sports in life, you know, football, basketball, football, snowboarding, um, more football. On the sweeter points Chuck is an amazing dad to our sweet son Carter. He takes him on "man quests" and teaches all the inner ways to be a boy. He also loves his siblings (all six of the) and enjoys playing paint ball with them at family reunions.
I suppose we have talked enough about this Chuck and should move onto his fair lady Kristin. Kristin is much more of a closet rocker, Chuck may wish he were the drummer in the rock band, but Kristin is always screaming in the crowd. As yelling and jumping came so naturally to this slightly red tinted haired girl, a high school cheerleader was natural choice for her, there she could run, jump and yell to her heart’s content! She may have overachieved at getting out her wiggles, because she has spent many years in books since then. She has what she calls a healthy appreciation for learning and has completed two bachelors degree and has been working part time as a nurse. She would someday love to return to get her master's degree in nursing. Kristin is a sweet and loving woman, is kind to all she meets and has a huge heart full of love and compassion.
The third stranger we need to introduce is our sweet 4 year old son Carter. We have always had a passion about adoption and adopted our son approximately 4 years ago. Adoption for us was never a second choice, it was our first choice. We have since learned of our infertility as a couple, but this has only strengthened us and inspired us to continue to build our family through adoption. Our son has blessed our lives in ways we could never imagine. We are truly in awe of his birth mother and her love for him and her sacrifice to give him a home with a mother and a father. Carter is full of energy and loves anything to do with trains. He also loves riding his bike, running, jumping and throwing balls. He is super caring and is always trying to "fix things" and take you to the doctor, which he believes is himself and he delivers his own medicine, which usually is a hug and a big kiss.
Although this story is getting a bit long there is a last piece that needs to be addressed. Chuck and Kristin are grateful for their membership in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and try to live their lives daily to keep with its teachings. As we ride the rollercoaster of life and parenthood we try to hold quickly to the teachings of the church and look at each day as a new experience.
We hope that our "story" will give you a little insight into us. We like to be able to have fun and not take things too seriously. Life is quite serious, and we, like everyone else, face it as it comes. But we like taking the time to enjoy one another and the life that is around us. We are excited about the possibility of participating in the miracle of adoption again. We thank you for your courage and love and truly respect you for your decision and are humbled by your example of unselfish love.
